    SANLAM GROUP – NSIA GROUP (SOUTH AFRICA / MALI / TOGO / GABON / CONGO / GUINEA)
    Multiple transaction with the NSIA group in which Sanlam acquired NSIA’s life and non-life subsidiaries in Mali and sold its life subsidiaries in Togo and Gabon and its non-life subsidiaries in Congo and Guinea.

    SANLAM GROUP – LIA SUBSIDIARY (SOUTH AFRICA / LEBANON)
    Merger of LIA (Sanlam Group subsidiary) with Assurex contributing to the implementation of the first merger in the insurance sector in Lebanon.

    SANLAM GROUP – SAHAM ASSURANCE (SOUTH AFRICA / MOROCCO)
    Acquisition of 22.8% of Saham Assurance by the Sanlam group, held by the Sanam group for 137 million dollars.

    Sale of a major player in the pharmaceutical industry in Morocco, SAHAM Pharma with a presence in India and Sub-Saharan Africa by SAHAM Healthcare Fund to SPE CAPITAL PARTNERS.

    GHANDI CLINIC (MOROCCO)
    Sale of the Gandhi clinic in Casablanca by SAHAM Healthcare Fund.

    SAHAM KENYA (KENYA)
    Sale by the Sanlam Group of 100% of SAHAM Kenya to Mauritius Union Assurance Company (MUA).

    SAHAM ANGOLA SEGUROS (ANGOLA)
    Entry of a new shareholder in the capital of an insurance company in Angola for a 14% stake.

    Sale of two healthcare facilities in Morocco (a general clinic in Casablanca and an oncology clinic in Tangiers) by SAHAM Healthcare Fund to ONCORAD GROUP.

    HASSAB LABS (EGYPTE)
    Sale of a network of 33 medical analysis laboratories in Egypt by SAHAM Healthcare Fund to AL TAYSEER INTERNATIONAL HOSPITAL.

    SAHAM UNITRUST (NIGERIA)
    Sale of a 40% stake in the capital of an insurance company in Nigeria.

  • 2010 > 2018

    Emerge Invest’s founding members* have played a leading role in the buyouts and disposals carried out within the Saham Group, between 2010 and 2018:

    • Acquisitions in Lebanon, Angola, Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda, Mauritius, etc.
    • Entry and exit of Wendel in the capital of Saham Group
    • Entry and exit of IFC and Abraaj in the capital of Saham Finances
    • Entry of Sanlam in the capital of Saham Finances, capital increase to reach 46.6% then total sale of Saham Finances to Sanlam (transaction at 1B USD)

    *In addition, before joining Saham Group, Mr. Raymond Farhat had created the Colina insurance network, present in 16 countries in West Africa. This network was acquired by Saham Group in 2010.

Ghalia Benabdejlil

After graduating from HEC and École Polytechnique, Ghalia BENABDELJELIL started her career at the Boston Consulting Group in Paris and Tokyo. She then joined the Kering Group, supporting the CEO in the strategic management of its Couture & Leather Goods division.

Ghalia later joined Saham with 3 mandates: Director of Strategic Projects, Chairman Chief of Staff and General Manager of the Saham Foundation. Her track-record includes participation in numerous large scale capital operations. Ghalia BENABDELJELIL has a strong strategic and financial expertise.
