JOHANNESBURG – Mobile phone company Vodacom announced on Friday a strategic reorganization of its Vodacom Business Africa operations, which will result in the signing of three separate share divestiture agreements concerning its enterprise activities in Nigeria, Zambia, Angola, Ghana and Ivory Coast.

"Subject to various regulatory and administrative approvals, Vodacom will enter into service agreements with Synergy Communications in Nigeria, Zambia and Ivory Coast; with Internet Technologies Angola (ITA) in Angola and with Vodafone Ghana in Ghana", it stated in a press release.

Vodacom stated that it has reached an agreement to sell its operations and assets in Angola to Internet Technologies Angola (ITA).

Under this agreement, ITA, the largest independent provider of enterprise telecommunications services in Angola, will acquire Vodacom Business Africa's operations in that country.

Vodacom specified that the two entities are in the process of finalizing the necessary agreements, which are subject to regulatory authority approval.

"The financial terms of the transaction remain confidential", it added.

Vodacom also announced on Friday that it has reached an agreement with Synergy Communications, which will acquire 100% of Vodacom Business Africa's operations in Nigeria, Zambia and Ivory Coast.

"The two entities are in the process of finalizing the acquisitions, which are subject to regulatory authority approval in these markets", the company stated in a press release.

Vodacom specified that this transaction supports the group's enterprise strategy in Africa, which has been refocused to develop and strengthen its core business.

The company will no longer directly provide services to international enterprise customers in these three markets, but will continue to operate as a pan-African telecommunications network provider through local partnerships such as the one with Synergy Communications.

"This acquisition represents an important step in Synergy Communications' vision, which aims to become a leading provider of cloud and digital technology-based services in key sub-Saharan African markets, and enables it to acquire key assets to develop its regional footprint", it added.

Synergy Communications currently operates in Botswana, Malawi and Mozambique.
